You are asked to train staff, volunteers and sometimes a board, with no learning budget and no learning person. The training still has to happen, and it still has to be good, because turnover costs you more than the session would have.
How do nonprofits train staff without a learning budget?
Build two internal facilitators instead of buying sessions. A two day train the trainer costs less than three outside sessions and leaves capability behind when it is done.
Nonprofits, schools and public agencies pay 25% less on every seat here, and 15% less on private sessions. That is a standing rate, not a grant cycle.
What about board and volunteer sessions?
Volunteers and board members give you attention in ninety minute windows, once. There is no second session to fix a bad one, so the structure has to carry more weight than it does with staff.
The move is to cut content by a third and put the time into a decision or a practiced task. A board that decided something remembers the meeting. A board that was presented to does not.
Do we still have to do harassment prevention training?
In California, yes. Employers with 5 or more employees must provide it every two years, one hour for employees and two for supervisors, under Government Code 12950.1. Nonprofit status does not exempt you.
Live delivery runs $1,800 for up to 50 people here, which is more than a $10 per seat recording and remembered considerably longer.
