What is Online Facilitation Skills?
Live facilitation training for the people who run rooms: HR teams, managers, trainers and educators. Four programs, each run live in a cohort capped at twelve, plus private sessions for a single team.
It is a brand of Urban Human Resources, which is my HR consulting practice. UHR does the work; Online Facilitation Skills teaches the people who pass it on.
Who teaches the programs?
I do, all of them. McKinley Malbrough III, J.D., MS-HRM. 12+ years in human resources, training facilitators online and in person, based in Oakland.
There is no bench of contract facilitators. If you book a session, I am the person in the room.
Are the programs recorded?
The cohorts are live and not sold as recordings. Your own practice runs are recorded for you only and never shared with the group.
I do this on purpose. Recorded training finishes at 10% to 20% compared with 85% to 96% for live cohorts (Ruzuku, State of Online Courses 2026).
What does it cost?
Seats run $450 to $950 at the founding rate, $650 to $1,400 standard, and every price is published on the pricing page. Private team sessions start at $2,500 for a half day.
Nonprofits, schools and public agencies take 25% off seats and 15% off private sessions, with no application.
Do you offer refunds?
Yes. Come to the first session. If it is not what you needed, tell me before the second one and I refund the full seat, not a credit.
For private sessions, if the first half day does not land you owe that half day and nothing after it.
When do cohorts start?
Dates go to the email list before they go public, because a cap of twelve fills fast. Join the list from any program page or the playbook page.
Can you run a session just for my team?
Yes, and most organizations start there. Half day, full day, or a two day train the trainer that leaves your own people able to run it without me.
Private sessions use your real examples, not generic scenarios.
Do you deliver required harassment prevention training?
Yes, in California, live. Employers with 5 or more employees must provide it every two years under Government Code 12950.1, one hour for employees and two for supervisors.
I deliver it as a real session rather than a click-through, and supervisors get the part most training skips: what to do in the first five minutes after somebody tells them something.
Is this legal advice?
No. I hold a J.D., but I am not your lawyer, and nothing on this site or in a session is advice about your situation. The Legal Side of Training is education about how these obligations generally work.
Do you work outside California?
Yes for facilitation training, which is not jurisdiction-specific. Compliance delivery is built around California requirements, so for another state I will tell you what transfers and what does not.
How do you use AI?
For drafting and research support. Not for judgment about people, and never with client details, names or complaint information in a general AI tool.
Where a page or image involved AI, it says so. That rule holds across everything I publish.
Are there free seats?
Every cohort holds 2 free seats for urban professionals paying out of pocket rather than billing an employer. Email me and describe what you are trying to run. There is no committee.
What is an urban professional?
A first-generation or underrepresented professional who earned their seat on merit and is negotiating for what that seat is worth, without an inherited playbook. The glossary has the full set of definitions.
